Grief as kid drowns in bucket By Stanwicks A family in Manga Borabu, Nyamira County is in grief after a one-year old kid drowned in a bucket of water. The child is said to have been Playing outside his grandmother's house where he came across a bucket that was half full with water. The minor, according to Nyamira County Police Commander Grace Kakai, died as after he accidentally lost control while inserting the head into the bucket. It was around 1pm and the kid was playing with water that was in the bucket. The grandmother who was inside only heard a cry and upon rushing to see what the distress was, she found the baby had already died in the water," Ms Kakai said. She said Police visited the home and assessed the scene of the incident. "Crime scene investigations visited the home and compiled facts that will help us to invetigate the incident further," Kakai added.

By Stanwicks Police in Nyamira are investigating an incident where a speeding car dropped parcels of a totally mutilated human body at Konate Junction, Nyamira County. Road users and residents of the busy Kisii-Ikonge-Nyamira Town junction are reeling in shock after an unmarked car dropped two white parcels which were discovered to be containing a body of a badly mutilated male adult. The dismembered body parts were stashed in two white gunny bags and wrapped in black and red polythene bags respectively. Nyamira South Subcounty Commander Moses Kirong said the black and red polythene bags were dropped at at around 10pm by a speeding vehicle. Kirong said upon examination, the head was missing from the body parts. "The head could not be found from among the badly mutilated body. We have instituted investigations on the incident and we hope to unravel the murder," Kirong said. But after staying at the hospital’s nursery for 90 days, she was discharged four days ago, weighing two kilogrammes. Dr Timothy Ombati who has been attending to the baby at the paediatric ward, says there is a worry when a baby is born with such extremely low weight because premature babies usually have underdeveloped body organs. The baby, for instance, overcame so many life-threatening hurdles. “The baby was born on the seventh month of pregnancy and at that age, some vital body organs like the lungs and liver have not fully developed. She needed extra care and that is exactly what made her overcome the dangers,” Dr Ombati said.
