A third suspect who was caught in Achoki's house was beaten senseless and was rescued by police who arrived at the scene at Metembe Village in Mborogo, Nyamira South.

Achoki was lynched at his compound where the stolen properties were retrieved including animals and motorcycle parts while the second suspect was hunted at Kebirigo, about 15 kilometers away from the village.

The second suspect was first frog matched from Kebirigo to Sironga arraigned where he was also lynched by the mobs.

Tension was high in the village as the irate mobs to look for some more accomplices of the two suspects said to have been perpetrators of various crimes of stealing and robbery in the County.

Two cows reported to have been stolen from the neighbourhood were also recovered from one of the houses that was torched by irate residents.

A litany of motor vehicle and motorcycle spare parts including registration plates were recovered from a house that has been under construction and which was being used as a store for stolen properties.

Sound systems suspected to have been stolen from a nearby church were also recovered in the home.

Residents also found several bales of cooking flour and oil which are suspected to have been looted from various shops in the region.

The cows were found in the unfinished permanent House which is in a highly secured compound.

According to Keera Location Chief Peter Ndirangu, one of the neighbours had lost his heifer Monday night and it was tracked to the suspect's home Tuesday morning where it was found.

"It was unfortunate that the residents took the law into their hands to kill the suspect. However, police arrived swiftly and managed to save the second suspect," Ndirangiu said.

Nyamira South Police Commander Moses Kirong said investigations had been instituted to establish more facts about the suspected ring of criminals that is behind the alleged crimes.

He condemned the residents for the killings.

"If they would have left him alive, then even investigators could have easier work to unearth the whole system of criminals involved in these alleged crimes," Kirong said.
