The youthful woman, Branswet Wambui admitted that she
had stabbed John Mwago using a kitchen knife on the night of October 21, 2020
at Bismarck area in Nakuru County following an altercation.
Wambui told Justice Hillary Chemitei that the entire
facts of the case that were presented before him by Prosecution counsel
Vena Odero were true and that she was guilty as charged.
The Judge said after Wambui presented her prayers to
the Court: “The accused person has pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of
manslaughter (killing without malice nor intention) and a plea of being guilty
is entered.”
According to Prosecution, on the fateful night, at
around 11.30 pm, Wambui had screamed, calling for help from neighbors to rescue
her fiancé after she stabbed him.
“The accused person told her neighbour identified as
Hellen Nyambura that she and her fiancé Mwago had picked a bitter quarrel after
she (Wambui) threatened to call off their relationship,” Odero told the court.
According to a post
mortem report that was filed in court, Mwago died as a result of excessive
bleeding from the neck.
“I was not intimidated; neither was I threatened to
admit to the charge of manslaughter but it was unintentional,” she pleaded.
The woman who was arrested the same night of the incident has been out on a bond of Sh800,000 and she is expected to mitigate her case before sentencing on November 15, 2021.
