A Gospel Singer from Nyamira hacked his wife to death before hanging himself over claims of unfaithfulness in their marriage.

The two, Mr and Mrs George Asiba, were found in their dimly illuminated bedroom at their Nyabomite Village home in Bogichora, Nyamira County with the husband's body dangling from the ceiling of the semi-permanent gabble house and the wife's lifeless body lying flat in a pool of blood on their matrimonial bed; arms resting on her chest and the ankle of her right leg resting on the left foot, as if she was at peace after the bizarre murder that left residents reeling in shock.

The legs of the averagely tall man which were in socks lightly touched the legs' side of the bed where the wife lay; a piece of garment firmly suspending him.

Beside the old, dirty and bloody death bed stood another newly acquired but unkempt bed with seemingly new bedding on it: a new foam mattress and freshly new blanket with a polka printed bed sheet.

Perhaps, the space between the two beds could remain symbolic of an implied deep rift and dark secrets of the couple's love life that had made the happy room choke the occupants with hate. Hate that would result to such horrific murder and suicide that will haunt the couple's three children for a long time.

But what exactly would lead a man so much respected as a spiritual counsellor full of musical inspiration and a role model commit such heinous act?

"The couple has been having fights revolving around infidelity and a man at the center of the suspicion was well known. Even parents solved their issues not many days ago following the fights over allegations of unfaithfulness on the side of the woman," a neighbour who sought anonymity because of sensitivity of the issue told this Newser.

The neighbour's words are corroborated in the homicide/suicide note which the man left on the table for everyone who came to witness the horror to read.

In the note which he authored to his children, the singer singled out a day when the wife hit him with a cup in the face after he asked him of the secret love affair.

“Your mother had troubled me for long and I have tried to keep up with it for long. It reached a day he hit me with a cup and even threatened to stab me,” the note that was written in Ekegusii read in part.

In the suicide note, Asiba mentioned a local youth seeking to stand for election as an MCA in Bogichora Ward as the person who had made their marriage deteriorate to the point of deciding to take the horrible decision.

He said he reached a decision to end the wife's life life and hang himself following the realization that the secret lover was HIV positive.

“I could not live with HIV. That man(the man he named) is sick and I never wanted to live with the disease,” he said.

Inside their semi-permanent gable house, the sound systems which the man used for his music job stood at one corner, but he never died without instructing his son over their use:

“Take care of the music tools. Preach with them to get that job you were looking for.”

Nyamira South Subcounty Commander Moses Kirong said investigations will be done to confirm the causes of the deaths.

“Even though it can be seen as a murder and suicide incident, we will want to be sure to clear any doubt,” Kirong said.

A machete and a knife that were recovered from the scene were documented for the investigations.

The bodies were removed to Nyamira County Referral Hospital mortuary where postmortem will be done on them.

Asiba even ordered in his note that Minto FM's Nyamira-based reporter Edward Onyancha exposes the contents of the emissary ahe left behind about the troubles he had with his wife.

The homicide/suicide note in summary:

1. Details of infidelity of his wife

2. Cruelity of his wife(The cup he hit him and the threatened stabbing using kitchen knife)

3. Details of the man the wife was flirting with...the HIV status(positive) and his full identity

4. Allegations of the secret man using witchcraft on the woman(the shaved hair, the nibbed underwear and unknown concoction given to her)

5. A revelation he had a recorded conversation between the wife and his alleged secret lover on how they enjoyed their private moments

6. A declaration of his debt-free status to his in-laws(fully paid dowry).

7. Plea to his elder son to take care of his two younger siblings

8. Caution not to sell family property including cows

9. Will to his elder son to carry on with preaching Gospel using equipment he now inherits from him.

10. Thanksgiving message to relatives who sought to intervene in his crisis with the wife.
